ZombiU, Announced for Wii U, Turns the Gamepad Into a Survival Resource
ZombiU, a new take on the survival horror first person shooter from Ubisoft, has been announced for the Wii U at Nintendo’s E3 conference.
In the year 2012, London is under siege from a quickly replicating, re-animating virus leaving the city in a “fog of death.” Resources are few and far between as you must stockpile tools, med-kits, and ammo.
ZombiU has been “built from the ground-up to take advantage of the Wii U and its revolutionary controller.” The Wii U gamepad will add an extra tactical tactile element as players try to survive the impending zombie apocalypse. It will serve as the “ultimate bug out bag” and allow players to quickly access their inventory of supplies.
Unique death mechanics provide an immersive zombie apocalypse experience. If a player dies with a character, they will “wake up” as a totally new survivor in the same position as the last. With no supplies, you must recover your old Bug Out Bag from the character you played last. The virus takes affect quickly, meaning your most recent character is now a zombie.
Online friends will also be alerted when a character of your’s dies. This will allow them to loot your old Bug Out Bag if you don’t recover it quickly enough.
Tactical multiplayer will add a unique flair to ZombiU. One player will be the “Zombie Master” and launch zombies and traps with the Wii U gamepad through a top-down view. The second player, the survivor, must do everything in their power to live through this onslaught, but only with the classic controller.
Players must “make every second count; you only get one chance.” The game is scheduled for release in 2012 as an exclusive title for the Wii U.
