ZOMBIES, SAMURAIS, & NINJAS: A father must save his daughter after an illegal DNA experiment goes wrong.
HOZON is Resident Evil meets Last Samurai. After a botched DNA experiment, Hozon, CEO of a Japanese bio-medical company and an expert swordsman must lead his Board of Directors out of a contaminated lab and save his sick daughter's life. Hozon has to battle a new breed of zombies who are brought back to life by the power of electricity.
The strategy is to shoot "REAL" awe-inspiring creature and special effects and only use visual effects to enhance them just like in the trailer. Using a modern Film Noir style that plays with DARK CONTRAST, SHADOWS, and SPILLS of LIGHT, which create suspense from what we don't see and only hear.
The Director, Dallas King, wants to bring back the classic Horror and Action found in iconic films like ALIEN, THE THING, and PREDATOR. Dallas states, "this one's dedicated to the fans who love bad ass action with high concept science fiction. Samurais, Ninjas, and Zombies; they'll get to watch man versus beast, in a classic battle to the death."
The response from the industry has been tremendous, as Dallas has officially joined the distinguished list of Hollywood Directors sponsored by:
PANAVISION - A leading camera equipment company with recent films like THE DARK KNIGHT, THE AVENGERS, and the film WORLD WAR Z. Panavision’s support for HOZON will addan incredible amount of real production value to the project.
THE UCLA SCHOOL OF THEATER FILM AND TELEVISION - DALLAS IS THE FIRST DIRECTOR TO MAKE AN OFFICIAL FEATURE FILM AT UCLA!!! UCLA is Officially sponsoring the project with Camera, Equipment, Sound Stage, Insurance, and Administrative support.
ILLUMINATION DYNAMICS (an ARRI Group Company) - Official partner, supporting with first-rate Grip and Electrical equipment.
KANTANA LAB (Bankgok, Thailand) - Sponsoring the film with full POST-PRODUCTION needs (sound, color, editing, etc.).
CINEMA MAKEUP SCHOOL - One of world’s premiere schools for special FX and beauty makeup is sponsoring the film project with FX artists, equipment, and supplies.
GIRLS & CORPSES - A premiere genre magazine that is officially sponsoring the project with exclusive behind the scene details.
HOZON is slated to go into Production on NOVEMBER 11th, 2013 and will have a 30-Day shoot. The film will be shot on location in Los Angeles. 90% of the film will be shot on a Soundstage were we plan on building a fully functioning Boardroom and Laboratory.
• Day 1-4 Exteriors / Interior (Dojo)
• Day 5-15 Interior (Boardroom)
• Day 16-30 Interior (Laboratory)
Even with all the industry support for HOZON, the project still needs additional funding. Since we have most of the physical production costs covered by our sponsors, this additional money will be used to increase the project's production value by building more impressive sets and creature effects. HOZON will end up becoming a quantum leap of Student Filmmaking, as we push the boundaries of what is possible for every filmmaker out there.
450 years ago, Miyamoto Musashi was a Japanese Samurai who fought over 60 duels and was never defeated. Founder of the two-long sword method called Ni-Ten Ichi Ryu, and author of The Book of Five Rings which is studied by any practicing warrior today. Musashi is considered the greatest Samurai swordsmen who ever lived and has been immortalized in pop-culture worldwide. Several dozen films and comic books, and even IRON MAIDEN’S song “Sun And Steel” are based off of Mushasi. The United States Navy helicopter squadron, Warlords of HSM-51, use a stylized picture of Musashi as their squadron logo.
Musashi’s cause of death is unknown, but we do know he suffered from Neuralgia, a pain produced by a change in neurological structure that causes nociceptive pain. WHAT IF, Hozon is the last living descendant of Miyamoto Musashi, and like his legendary ancestor suffers from the same incurable disease. For 450 years the Musashi Clan has focused all their energy to find a cure to preserve their bloodline. Hozon is the last of the Samurai, a warrior, that beleives in honor, tradition, and his daughter Suri, is the family’s last hope.
Today, Epilepsy affects over 3 million Americans of all ages – more than multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and Parkinson’s disease combined. Almost 500 new cases of epilepsy are diagnosed every day in the United States. Epilepsy affects 50,000,000 people worldwide and in two-thirds of patients diagnosed with epilepsy, the cause is unknown. There are different strains of Epilepsy and some are so svevre a person can have over 100 seizures a day. WHAT IF, Suri is suffering from a sever strain that can cause premature death? What would a father do to save his Daughter?
It’s no mystery that our bodies are driven by electrical pulses, which explains why today we use defibrillators to shock the heart and bring someone back to life. In many radical procedures, doctors use electricity to stimulate areas in the brain on patients that suffer from Epilepsy.
WHAT IF, Hozon Biomedics, the leading company in epilepsy research uses the same radical experiments using massive amounts of electricity on the brains of cadavers. WHAT IF stimulating the brains and hearts to test a cure for Epilepsy goes terribly wrong, and electrical currents become uncontrollable? Would the dead come back to life? Would they become genetically enhanced?

Risks and challenges
Every single Risk and Challenge involved with filmmaking applies here. The list is pretty long, what if someone slips in the shower and breaks their nose? What if one of our actors decides to quit last minute to join the Peace Corps? The best way we are protecting ourselves against the unthinkable is by putting in place production insurance, contingency plans, and putting together the best production team we can. We have hired the most capable people to not just make a project, but to insure the quality of this project is a "A" level. We have full trust in our Team (and so do all of our sponsors), so barring an Act of God (like the apocalypse) this film will be made. We’ll be sending regular updates about our progress to all backers, so you’ll be the first to know about every step of our success.
