‘The Walking Dead’ Season 4: Watch the Zombie Auditions
Now that production is underway for the upcoming season, a cool behind-the-scenes featurette has just surfaced, giving fans a look at what it takes to become a “walker” on AMC’s hit series.
There’s no new footage to be seen, but many people don’t realize just how hard it might be to stay in character with loads of blood and decaying skin make-up, pretending to have no mind of your own, and truly becoming a convincing zombie. Luckily, executive producer Greg Nicotero conducts a zombie school for the extras who make up the ever-important component of the undead who saunter around throughout the series.
This featurette shows some of the the auditions, where actors are getting pointers and rehearsing their zombie walks and movements as well as briefly dives into the organization behind each zombie extra, including specially made wardrobe for each “undead” person.
After seeing all the potential “walkers”, it leads one to wonder just how much of the cast won’t survive this zombie onslaught. After all, it sounds like The Walking Dead may not stay at the prison throughout the entirety of season 4 as comic creator and series producer Robert Kirman says, “There’s always going to be new locations and new places to discover and explore. I don’t want to reveal toomuch. But I will say that as we see at the end of Season 3 we’re definitely going to start Season 4 at the prison. We may be there the whole season and we may not be… But there are going to be some big differences from Season 3.”
If anything, you can expect two characters to do some teamwork to take on the zombies since Kirkman also said, “There’s some really, really cool and big stuff that people have been expecting, or that people have been anticipating from the comics, that will work into Season 4. To give a hint, I will say that we do have Tyreese and Rick, who are now united, which is a big moment for the comic book fans. There’s a lot of story that comes from those two guys being on the same side. We’ll possibly see a bit of that in Season 4.”
