"It's too soon to tell you more," says studio creative director.
Work on a prototype for a sequel to Wii U launch title ZombiU is underway at Ubisoft Montpellier, the studio's creative director Jean-Philippe Caro has said.
Speaking on Twitter, Caro said "the team is working hard on a prototype" but that "it's too soon to tell you more."
Since the game's release, Ubisoft has said that one of ZombiU's most warmly received features--permanent death for characters--was almost scrapped by the development team.
Speaking to GameSpot earlier in the year, Ubisoft managing director Xavier Poix said the message behind the Wii U was hard to convey and that it might have led to ZombiU's ukewarm critical reception when the game launched in 2012.
"The whole idea of the asymmetrical gameplay and using two screens to do two very different things is not simple to explain to people," said Poix at the time.
"ZombiU was designed to be a game for core players launching with a new Nintendo console. We should have communicated better in this respect to let people know what kind of experience to expect. It wasn't obvious enough that there would be a new controller and new gameplay and a new skill set to develop."
