After Godzilla, Bryan Cranston's next battle is with zombies?!?

According to Deadline, Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston is in early discussions with Legendary to co-star in their upcoming epic, The Great Wall. No word on who the actor may be in line to portray, but today’s announcement comes hot on the heels of Saturday’s news that Matt Damon is in talks with Chinese director Zhang Yimou – inked to direct – for a role. Damon’s slate is already starting to get crowded, but the pair are reportedly trying to arrange a time in his busy schedule so he can snag the other lead.
Based on a script by Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro, the film will be produced by Thomas Tull, Charles Roven, Jon Jashni, Richard Suckle and Peter Loehr. In development for quite some time now, the project originally had Ed Zwick attached to direct. Man Of Steel Henry Cavill,True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgaard, and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter star Benjamin Walker were all at one time in the running for the lead as well.
As that iteration failed to get the greenlight, Legendary are now starting from scratch to get the film rolling again. Whether or not it will still follow the original storyline is unknown, but the premise that was released back in 2012 still sounds very intriguing:
“… an adventure film about British warriors traveling through 15th Century China and happen upon the hurried construction of the massive wall. As night falls, the warriors realize that the haste in building the wall isn’t just to keep out the Mongols. There is something inhuman and more dangerous.”
At that time, the flick was reportedly based on an original short story by Max Brooks (World War Z) titled Great Wall: A Story From The Zombie War.
If this is still the case, expect The Great Wall to be a bloody, adventurous undead romp – headed up by Heisenberg himself.

Governer declares October as Zombie Preparedness Month

TOPEKA, Kansas – The Kansas of Division of Emergency Management is utilizing the popularity of zombies to encourage all Kansans to prepare for an emergency.
Governor Sam Brownback signed a proclamation designating October as Zombie Preparedness Month Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. in the Governor’s Ceremonial Office in the Kansas Statehouse.
“If you’re prepared for zombies, you’re prepared for anything,” is the theme of Zombie Preparedness.
“If you’re equipped to handle the zombie apocalypse then you’re prepared for tornadoes, severe storms, fire and any other natural disaster Kansas usually faces,” said Devan Tucking. “This is a fun and low-stress way to get families involved, and past turnouts have proven it to be effective.”
“We came up with the idea of Zombie Preparedness Month because it is an engaging way to get people on board with emergency preparedness,” said Angee Morgan, deputy director of Kansas Division of Emergency Management.
The Kansas of Division of Emergency Management says you prepare for a zombie apocalypse just as you would a natural disaster; home emergency kits with survival supplies to last at least three days and an emergency plan.
The public can learn more about disaster and zombie preparedness on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10 am to 2:30 pm at the Crestview Shelter House at 4901 SW Shunga Drive in Topeka.
A disaster-on-the-go pack is free to the first 300 people.
The zombie fun run/lurch begins at 1 p.m.

Kickstarter Project: Silent Night of the Living Dead!

The Zombies are coming to Bethlehem this Christmas !
Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the house, not a creature was stirring, EXCEPT FOR THAT MASSIVE ZOMBIE HORDE BURSTING THROUGH MY WALLS!!!?
Do you love zombies? And do you love Christmas?? Then you're going to love 'Silent Night of the Living Dead,' the brand new zombified nativity set brought to you by those lovely, creative people at OddCo Ltd.
Borne from a late night braaainstorm over cold pizza, energy drinks and bad 80's horror movies, the creepy dudes at OddCo decided they would like to redesign the traditional Christmas Nativity and transform it into a modern horror piece for a creature loving, Zombie Nation.
Original Concept Drawing - Nigel Auchterlounie

Delicately sculpted and hand painted by Satan's little helpers, the Nativity consists of 9 resin figurines that stand at around 10cm tall each and come safely packaged in a cardboard box for a safe and speedy delivery.
Let's take a closer look at some of the individual pieces -
We 3 Kings of Orient Arrrrrrrgh!?

These 3 Kings aren't following the brightest star in the sky, they are following an insatiable appetite for brains and human flesh. Unfortunately they haven't brought anything of any value either. No gold or myrrh, just body parts and gore.
While Shepherds eat their flock by night
What would any Nativity be without it's shepherd and cute little animals? Our Nativity is no different and comes with it's very own shepherd boy, lambs and a cute little zombie donkey.
Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus
Like any protective parents (even though Joseph isn't technically Jesus' dad,) Mary and Joseph will defend their child from the zombie horde at all costs! Luckily they've managed to get their hands on a crossbow and samurai sword; everyone's favourite zombie slaying weapons of choice.
SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!?? Join in the fun and order the most entertaining and controversial Christmas ornament anyone has ever seen. Help us to realize our dream of making the 'Silent Night of the Living Dead' Nativity and become a part of the creation of a major talking point for any Christmas display...

Risks and challenges

One of the challenges for this project, is to manufacture and deliver the Nativity sets in time for Christmas. In order to make sure we deliver on time, we have built a heavily structured schedule, all samples are tested and approved and our manufacturers are poised to begin production as soon as we give them the green light.
Another challenge may be the controversial nature of the product. Some folks may see the zombie Nativity as sacrilegious. However, we hope most will see it for the lighthearted nod to popular culture that it is intended to be.

Evil Dead Attacks Chicago!

For those who don't know, this hilarious stage show takes all the elements of the cult classic horror film (Evil Dead 1, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness) then combines them to make one of the craziest theatrical experiences of all time.
Five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods (typically), and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It's all up to Ash (a housewares employee, turned demon-killing hero), and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Blood flies. Limbs are dismembered. Demons are telling bad jokes... and all to music.
The songs in the show are completely off the wall as well. Titles like "All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons" and "What the F*@k was That" will have you rolling in your seats, and screaming for more and more blood.
You don't need to be a fan of Evil Dead to love this show. You don't need to be a fan of horror to love this show. You don't even need to be a fan of musicals to love this show. As long as you like having fun... this show is for you.
