Zombies took over a Danville neighborhood Tuesday. The horde wandered through the streets looking for food.
No the apocalypse isn't upon us.
The flesh-eaters were part of a commercial shoot for a website called galleryofguns.com.
Director Brian Vaughn is also a Danville native.
"The gun industry's really big on zombies right now. They have zombie firearms, zombie ammunition, zombie targets, so we just wanted to jump on board with that and do our own take of it,” said Vaughn.
Some of the local zombie got out of character to answer a few questions for me.
Brandee Sharpe of South Boston plays the housewife zombie.
"It's sticky and hot, a little bit creepy. People kind of look at you strange when they walk out of their house,” said Sharpe.
Her makeup took hours to do, but she just doing it all for fun.
"It's not every day you get to take a day off from work just to get zombie-fied and do something cool,” said Sharpe.
But for many of the walking dead, this is a serious shoot.
"I've been acting since I was three years old. I do a lot of local community theater,” said Danville native Robbie Native.
Robbie Hendrix of Danville says he's worked hard to perfect his zombie walk. He tells me he’s putting this commercial on his resume tape.
"I'm hoping to leave Danville next May to pursue my acting career in theater, hopefully Disney World in Florida or New York in Broadway,” said Hendrix.
