THE DEAD WALK: FULCI’S ZOMBIE FLESHEATERS AKA ZOMBI RELEASED ON BLU-RAY
The people over at Arrow Video have announced news which is bound to tantalize fans of Euro-Sleaze and Italian zombie films to no end. Lucio Fulci’s Video Nasty classic Zombie Flesheaters is to be released in a luxurious new High Definition, uncut Blu-ray format.
Fulci fans will be able to view this 1979 cult classic in all its eye-gouging, gut-munching, shark-wrestling HD glory, and for the collectors out there, a luscious, limited edition slip-box version will be available for the first 500 copies sold.
Zombie Flesheaters stars Tisa Farrow and Ian McCullough, and follows a group of travellers who sail to the island of Matul in pursuit of one Dr Menard, a scientist reported by locals to be bringing the dead back to life. When they arrive on the tropical island, they discover that the stories are more than just superstition or folklore, and that the small village is being overrun by a band of walking corpses hell bent on devouring human flesh.
Zombie Flesheaters is a stylized, gory and incredibly violent European gem from the golden era of Italian horror. Lucio Fulci’s distinctive style is on full display in one of his most dazzling and shocking films.
Of course, this Arrow release will be packed full of extra features, including interviews with some the biggest names in Italian horror like Dardano Sacchetti, Luigi Cozzi and Ruggero Deodato. A special documentary on the work of Ian McCullough will also be included, drawing light on and bringing together his three forays into the world of Italian horror: Zombie Flesheaters, Zombie Holocaust and Contamination. The DVD’s extras and inlay notes will also include commentary, insight and interviews from some of the UK’s most respected critics like Kim Newman, Frightfest’s Alan Jones and Fulci biographer Stephen Thrower.
Copies are already available for pre order from Arrow’s website, with the release date scheduled just in time for Christmas on 26th November 2012.
