As a key member of the production staff of the 1968 classic “NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD”, Gary Streiner wore many hats including sound recordist and sound mixer.  Gary is also seen as a member of the posse at the end of the film.   In 2008 and 2009, Streiner organized Living Dead festivals in Evans City which attracted the largest reunion of cast and crew to date, as well as fans from as far away as France.
SAVE THE CHAPEL FROM “NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD” (1968)   www.fixthechapel.com
In the cemetery scene in the opening of the 1968 classic “NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD”, Johnny and Barbara park near a chapel in the cemetery.  The chapel still stands today, and serves as a vital reference point in both the film and to those who visit the Evans City cemetery, where the scene was filmed.
Used for decades as a storage shed, the chapel has fallen into a state of disrepair. The windows are shuttered. The roof is leaking. Time and the elements have battered the exterior. Cemetery officials estimate it will take $50,000 in cosmetic improvements to return the structure to its former glory.  The chapel will be demolished unless $50,000.00 can be raised to repair and restore it.
Gary Streiner is now leading a fundraising campaign to raise the $50,000.00 to “Fix the Chapel”.  Gary and the “Fix the Chapel” campaign will have a table in the Flashback Weekend vendor room selling great Night of the Living Dead and “Fix the Chapel” merchandise and accepting donations to save this vital landmark in cinema history!
