Brad Pitt Attempts to Ease our Fears about the World War Z Reshoots
Hmmm … The man doth protest too much, methinks!! In a recent interview with HeyUGuys.com, Brad Pitt seemed to be trying to ease our concerns about all the reshoots that are currently being done for the feature adaptation of the bestselling Max Brooks zombie novel, WORLD WAR Z.
It’s been no secret that the film has been plagued with delays, going over budget (waaaay over budget), having trouble with local police, and now with reshoots. But Pitt is here to tell us that it’s not all that serious. Supposedly director Marc Forster has less than an hour of usable footage, and Drew Goddard (THE CABIN IN THE WOODS) was hired to rewrite the final act. But again, Pitt assures us that it’s not as bad as it seems:
“Well, it’s just a big monster of a film. It’s just got to work a certain way and we gotta fix it up. That’s all. We get it right and it’s gonna be great. It’s not unusual. We can do better and this is a monster of a film so there’s a lot of working parts to it.”
Well that’s definitely the “half full” way of looking at this!! After the principle shooting there’s only about a hour of usable footage? AN HOUR?? Let’s look at this another way: I’m a chef. If after a busy Saturday night of doing 300 covers I realized that of the 300 customers that came into my restaurant, only 50-75 of them actually got fed, well I’d be fired and most likely never get another chef job!!

But it seems Pitt and Goddard are on the same page, though. Earlier in the summer Goddard was interviewed by Collider.com and gave a similar, “let’s-drink-outta-the-Kool Aide-punch-bowl” response to the rewrites and reshoots:
“I think a lot of that got blown out of proportion. It really was like, they asked me to come look at the movie and give ideas on how to help, and that’s what happened. That happens all the time, I don’t know why this got blown up with World War Z and it suddenly became a big thing.”
