Party to be held for 100th issue of 'Walking Dead' comics; TV show actress to make appearance

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Fanboy Comics will be hosting a celebration for the release of the 100th issue of The Walking Dead comic book series Friday, July 13, according to a press release.
Special guests will be at the event, including actress Jane McNeill, a Columbus County native who plays the character Patricia on AMC's version of the hit TV show inspired by the comics. Poster artist Danny Miller will also be present, along with comic artist Brandon Blanks.
The event will host a zombie/Walking Dead costume contest, a zombie talent show, zombie games and drawings that include money prizes.
The first 48 people in line at the event will receive a zombie gift bag, including a Zombie Blood energy drink and Fanboys vs. Zombies comic issue #1. Five bags at random will hold chromium 100th issue Walking Dead comics.
Additionally, there will be discounts on zombie comics and merchandise at the store.
The 100th issue of The Walking Dead will go on sale Wednesday, July 11, and it will feature different art covers by artists including Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri and Frank Quitely.
A life-size zombie bust, created by special effects makeup artist Greg Nicotero for The Walking Dead TV series, will be on display for fans to pose with.
The following is the schedule of events that will take place at the release party:
  • 5 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.: Registration for a zombie/Walking Dead costume contest and zombie talent show will take place.
  • 6:00 p.m.: A Zombie/Walking Dead costume contest and zombie talent show will start for those vying for first, second and third places, and honorable mentions. The first place winner will get a $100 Fanboy gift card.
  • 6:30 p.m.: A Q&A session will be held with actress Jane McNeill, Danny Miller and Brandon Blanks.
  • 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.: Signings with special guests listed will take place, and folks can register to win tons door prizes.
