REZ EVIL: RETRIBUTION BREAKS THE SERIES' CONTINUITY. SO WHAT?

Over at game blog Destructoid, Hamza CTZ Aziz laments
that the based on the trailer for the latest entry in the series, filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson has all but upended and invalidated the stories of the previous films using the good old fashioned "it was all a dream" conceit. He's completely right and it's kind of beside the point.
Since the conclusion of the first movie more or less ignored the Alice-as-scanner ending of the second, and the fourth did away with an endless army of Milla Jovovich's in its opening minutes, it's clear that Anderson is more interested in coming up with new action setpieces for the actress than stringing together some unified story which honors Capcom's games.
And I love it. I love them without qualification, and I don't care that there's an evil corporation that wants to use one of the world's most beautiful actresses (this isn't up for debate) to create some kind of super simulation that will help them rule the world (or something).
Jovovich returns along with Michelle Rodriguez, Oded Fehr, Sienna Guillory, and Boris Kodjoe, and they're joined by Bingbing Li as Ada Wong and Johann Urb as Leon Kennedy, throwing in more characters from the game (and that's a good thing, as far as I'm concerned).

Resident Evil: Retribution opens September 14th.
