‘THE WALKING DEAD’ SEASON 3 TO FEATURE MORE ZOMBIES, BUT HOW?
If you ever take any time to read some of the criticisms of ‘The Walking Dead,’ you invariably hear the some of the same concerns repeated. For one, everyone hates Lori, but more importantly, where are all the zombies? Some episodes might spend more than half an hour without so much as a solitary walker, while others feature them in droves. Going forward to ‘Walking Dead’ season 3, how is production planning to correct this imbalance, and how did they pull off some of the larger crowds in season 2?
The latest look inside ‘The Walking Dead’ season 2 and 3 illuminates quite a bit on just how so many zombie walkers can occupy the screen at any given moment, and particularly how season 2 finale ‘Beside the Dying Fire‘ called on heavy CG to fortify the undead’s numbers. You might be surprised to learn how a number of the shots were created, and completely fooled to see which walkers were real, and which came out of a computer!
But what about ‘The Walking Dead’ season 3? As the survivors presumably move into a newer, even more secure setting, can we expect to see more or less walkers? ‘The Walking Dead visual FX supervisor Victor Scalise remained predictably coy about any specifics, but was willing to offer that “we did a lot of killing last season, but this season we’re doing a lot more.”
And how much work went into creating the prison itself, seen in the distance of the season 2 finale? Will season 3 follow its design? Hopefully we’ll see more at Comic-Con 2012, but you can check out the behind-the-scenes featurette below!
