'Walking Dead' Gets Its Own Zombie-Filled Magazine This Fall

If print media is dead, then The Walking Dead is making it zombified.

Published by Titan Magazines and Image Comics' Skybound imprint, The Walking Dead: The Official Magazine launches as a quarterly publication beginning Oct. 23 on newsstands — the same month as the popular AMC TV show returns for its third season.

The 100-page magazine will offer content and news from both the TV show and the ongoing Image comic created by Robert Kirkman, including interviews; on-set features; conversations with cast members such as Andrew Lincoln and Sarah Wayne Callies; behind-the-scenes zombie articles; and more.

In addition, Walking Dead comic artist Charlie Adlard is illustrating an alternate zombie cover for the magazine's first issue that will only be available in comic shops. Bookstores, newsstands and subscribers will get the cover featuring Lincoln as Rick Grimes.

"This magazine will be your one-stop destination for all the news pertaining to the comic, TV show, video game, toys, games and whatever else exists in the ever-expandingWalking Dead universe," Kirkman says.

The Walking Dead magazine will also be active on social media with Twitter and Facebook. And Titan — which also publishes Star Wars InsiderStar Trek MagazineSupernatural Magazine and the British comic-book publication CLiNT— is offering a special pre-order subscription with a 20% discount on its website.

Fans of the show and comic don't have to wait until October for more info about the undead franchise, though.

Next month, Kirkman is turning San Diego Comic-Con into a Walking Dead paradise with a "Walking Dead Escape" zombie obstacle course at Petco Park and the debut of Walking Dead issue 100. And AMC has a Walking Dead weekend planned for July 7-8 with a marathon of episodes and a sneak peek at the new season.
