Release Date Announced For Zombie Comedy The Revenant
Shock Till You Drop reports that Lightning Entertainment has signed a deal with distribution company Paladin for the theatrical release of horror comedy The Revenant.
The film will be released in August in ten markets, as well as a premium Video-on-Demand as part of an event day-and-date Ultra VOD debut through Lightning's distribution arm, Lightning Media. The DVD will be released through Lionsgate, as part of LM's partnership with the studio.
The film stars David Anders (The Vampire Diaries) and Chris Wylde, and was both written and directed by visual effects guru D. Kerry Prior (Phantasm franchise, Starship Troopers). Prior also produced with Liam Finn (Training Day) and Jacques Thelemaque (Midnight Movie).
Synopsis: A horror comedy in the vein of Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, The Revenant tells the story of a soldier and his slacker best friend who become zombies, and then use their newfound powers to become vigilante crime fighters with hilariously mixed results when their adventures become more complicated and bloody than expected.
