Run for your lives at Zombie Music Fest

Runners will begin the race with two flags on a belt and will have to dodge zombies and conquer obstacles throughout the 3.2-mile course, a news release from the North Valley Arts Council said. The main duty of the Zombies will be to steal the runners’ lives, represented by their flags. The top 3 finishers who finish alive (with one or more flags remaining) will be awarded special Zombie Run prizes.

Visit www.NOVAC.org soon to register as the race will be capped at 50 zombies and 200 runners. Zombies will make this run fun for runners, as they get to chase the runners to steal their lives (flags). Zombies will get a bit of VIP treatment: they will have access to makeup and be able to make their own Zombie costume Oct. 4, courtesy of the Fire Hall Theater.

This race is being held in conjunction with Zombie Fest, and is being hosted by the North Valley Arts Council, the Red River Runners, Atlas Events, and the Greater Grand Forks Convention & Visitor’s Bureau. Race proceeds will benefit the Empire Arts Center.

Here are the details:
• Registration and packet pickup: Begins at 12:30 p.m.
• Race start: 2 p.m. gun start Oct. 6 on the Greenway trail north of Grand Forks Town Square
• Cost: $30; proceeds will benefit Empire Arts Center
• Race awards: 3 p.m., Town Square
• After the race: Get a glow-in-the-dark beer mug for $10 (there’s a special price for runners) and enjoy the live music and fun at Zombie Fest.
