Trailer Watch: 'The Bay' — Zombies, Flesh Eating Parasites, and Dead Fish? Oh My!
The legacy of The Blair Witch Project is still alive and well in Hollywood, and now one of the industry's most respected directors is taking on the genre. Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Wag the Dog) is an unexpected choice to bring a new found-footage horror flick to the big screen.
The Bay compiles various home videos, newscasts, and security tapes and presents it as authentic, real-life footage to create a visceral, realistic horror story in which a small town on the Eastern Seaboard is overrun by a waterborne virus. The viral outbreak eats people from the inside out and turns them into zombie like beings. Think Contagion meets Dawn of the Dead meets Alien, shot in Cloverfield fashion. Normally, this would seem like just another cookie-cutter genre film, but in Levinson's hands there's hope that The Bay could turn into something fresh and revitalizing.
