You are at home, the office, the park, or the dentist and you look through your phone and see a real time view of your surroundings, when suddenly… there are Zombies! Zombies everywhere, attacking from behind, climbing up out of the ground right before your eyes, from places you thought were once so familiar, so safe, so secure. Not anymore!
Welcome to the infested, altered reality world of Urban Zombie.
The premise is this: a 21st Century plague is running rampant in the city. Hoards of the living dead have been sighted in urban areas. The infected ones are everywhere you go. It’s your job to cleanse your city of the Zombie infestation. Before they infect you.
You have all you need to hunt Zombies right in your pocket - as you go through your day, you can pull out your phone wherever you are and go hunting. Just open the app, check in, and start clearing out Zombies.
You take Zombies out with quick shots. They swing their bloody arms and get closer. If you let them overwhelm you, you’re a goner. You have to kill the Zombies before they kill you.
This is real-time action in real space. It's as real as it gets and you’re smack dab in the middle of it. As you get better, you’ll kill more Zombies faster. And live to fight again.
Then there's the strategic side of Urban Zombie, where you can build a Zombie army to dominate your city! You can earn or purchase Zombies of your own to send out and fight for you against other players. You will earn points (brains) for every hunting engagement your Zombies are in. The more your Zombies play the stronger they get, the longer they live, and the more points they earn for YOU. Your Zombies will also increase in skill and speed as they gain experience in the game. Place your Zombies around your city to maximize their earnings and to challenge your friends with ambush attacks.
All this is brought together with social features that let you keep up to date with friends' hunting habits and successes. See who’s killing the most Zombies or getting the most head shots. Compete to be the top hunter in your neighborhood, city, or across the globe.
We’ve been working day and night on this baby for the past six months and we’re about 70% there now. But there are only three of us on the team. We need your help to push Urban Zombie over the top. We’ll be using your funding to fine tune and polish the game experience, complete ongoing development, and make sure the servers are ready to support the massive number of Zombie hunters, like you. We’re going to make it everything it can be – the most awesome game on the planet.
The foundation is done but we need to bring all the pieces together and get it to a polished state so that it’s the best game it can be. We’re open to your thoughts and suggestions, and are eager to welcome you, with your support, into our Urban Zombie family. We’re developing cool t-shirts as we speak. Sponsor Zombies with Names
Sponsor Zombies have a shorter re-spawning period that will allow them to come back to life faster than other Zombies. This means your Zombie will earn more brains and experience than any other zombie in the game. You will also have the option to name your Sponsor Zombies.
Zombie Sound
We will record audio of you making Zombie moans, grown, gargles, hisses and anything else you can think of. We will post-process the audio and will select and incorporate the best choice into the game.
Player Sound
We will record audio of you making player hit, death, rejoice and other noises. We will post-process the audio and select and incorporate the best choice into the game.
Picture Blending
Have a picture of your face blended into one of the stock Zombie textures. Our artist will Zombie you up to the finest level of decay and rot. You Zombie face will be a founding game asset for Urban Zombie system Zombies everywhere.
RISKS AND CHALLENGES
One of the biggest challenges will be making sure that we have the backend web service infrastructure to support the growing user base and game play. We have already established a relationship with Softlayer (a cloud infrastructure provider and hosting company) to find the right combination of cloud and dedicated server to support our growing needs.
This is a crazy large project for a three-person team. We have self-funded this project from the start, and now that we have the core functionality working, it's all about expanding the features and making it the best game possible.
