ZOMBIE WALK FOR HUNGER 10/27/12 (ST. GEORGE, UTAH)

ST. GEORGE – The 3rd annual St. George Zombie Walk happens Saturday, and this time the undead are shambling through the streets with a mission.
David Roland, the organizer of the event, said this year the zombies are marching to raise food donations for the Dixie Care & ShareRoland described the event best in an email to St. George News:
Allow me to introduce the St. George Zombie Walk group. This year we are a collaborative effort consisting of two corporate sponsors, Comics Plus and Maverik, and a host of volunteers that enjoy the horror genre, especially zombies.
In a nutshell, we all dress up like zombies and walk around freaking people out. This year we walk for a humanitarian cause, hunger. We’re raising food donations for the great folks at Dixie Care & Share to help feed people. After all, zombies crave well-fed brains. The buy-in to walk in the event is food and it’s for a good cause. Maverik will be here with drinks, food and prizes. We also have contests and games planned. So come on down in your best zombie costume and join us for an hour or so of zombie madness. After it is over, you will still have time to go out to the parties.
We are openly inviting everyone in town to join us on this day to celebrate the life (or death) of zombies. If you have any questions or suggestions, please email us. Our main goal is to be seen, have fun, freak out people and raise food for the hungry. We hope that you will all join us for this event. Spread the word.
To enter the Zombie Walk, individuals are asked to bring three cans of food. Families (three zombies or more), are asked to bring five cans. Additional food is welcomed and encouraged. There will also be costume contests, games, prizes and refreshments at the event.
The Zombie Walk will begin in the parking of Comics Plus at 348 W St. George Blvd., at 4 p.m. on Saturday. For additional information, call 435-673-2229, or visit the St. George Zombie Walk Facebook page.
