THE STORY SO FAR...
ByoLogyc, a Toronto-based leader in the field of lifestyle biotechnology, has had a big year. With visionary CEO Chet Getram at the helm, and scientific genius Davian Baxter as well as the lovely Olive Swift at his side, they revealed their newest, most revolutionary product: ByoRenew, "the cure for everything that stops you from doing anything”. Soon after, they launched the Versatile Intern Program (VIP), giving members of the public a chance to contribute and connect to the corporation. And in July, they threw a massive celebration for both of these milestones, inviting residents of Toronto to join the VIP Initative and sample ByoRenew.
However, not all is well in ByoLand. Tensions amongst staff members have been running high. Some are jockeying for power. Others seek to exploit ByoLogyc for their own gain. And certain new employees are wondering what exactly they've gotten themselves into.
Even worse, an online hacker group called EXE has targeted ByoLogyc, citing their "wholesale disregard for the consequences of power." EXE has been leaking confidential information from inside ByoLogyc, hounding them with disruptive attacks, and generally plotting their destruction.
In May, some of these hackers (with the aid of some interns) were able to attack ByoLogyc's web presence and internal systems, just as the initial production run of ByoRenew was underway. This seemed to have been cleaned up, and ByoRenew production resumed. However, the July celebration ended in disaster, as an emergency was declared and guests were evacuated immediately after sampling ByoRenew. ByoLogyc has not yet disclosed the nature of this emergency.
In September, ByoLogyc announced a voluntary recall of ByoRenew, and subsequently fired VP Quality Assurance and Chet's ex-beau, Olive Swift. Shortly after, ByoLogyc also confirmed the outbreak of a newly discovered virus, blaming EXE for creating the virus by modifying ByoRenew during the launch in July. Now, as rumours begin to swirl, ByoLogyc scrambles to control the fallout, and EXE fights to turn the public against ByoLogyc. All signs point towards the end of the world arriving on schedule in 2012… but whose side will you take, and what part will you play?
