From hay rides to thrill rides: A roundup of area haunted houses and Halloween events (AL)



The chill of fall has finally descended upon us, but that shiver in your spine isn’t just from the weather. Monsters, zombies, and many other horrific creatures of the night are out in full force at one of the many haunted attractions our area has to offer. For the ultra-spooky, check out the legendary Haunted Chicken House, which now features a room you have to sign a waiver to enter. For the family-friendly, check out Anniston’s Zombie Walk or a pumpkin patch or two.



Haunted Houses

Terrortorium, Oxford

What:Haunted house and Haunted Castle Dark Ride (from the Miracle Strip Amusement Park)
When:Thursdays and weekends through Oct. 20, everyday Oct. 25-31. Hours are 7-10 p.m. on weeknights and 7 p.m.-midnight on weekends.

Haunted Chicken HouseWhat:Haunted house, hayride and the new X-Scream X-Perience (must be 18 or have an adult sign a waiver for X-Scream X-Perience). Proceeds support Hollis Fire and Rescue.
When:Fridays and Saturdays, 7 p.m.-midnight. Open for church night Oct. 28 and Halloween night from 7-10 p.m.

Cost:Haunted house or hayride, $15 adult, $12 children. Haunted house and hayride combo, $25 adult, $19 children. X-Scream X-Perience, $25. Tickets are half price on Halloween night.
