United Way’s 2012 Zombie Mud Run 10/27/12 (Trenton, GA)

Are you faster than a zombie?

Find out Oct. 27 at United Way’s 2012 Zombie Mud Run in Trenton, Ga. The 5K mud run begins at 8 a.m. on a farm between the bottom of Lookout Mountain and Lookout Creek at 588 Piney Road and offers more than 12 obstacles to challenge runners.

According to United Way officials, the setting is remote and beautiful. There is one thing, however, that contestants may want to know. Zombies are rumored to live on this farm, so runners beware.

Along with the 5K mud run, there will also be a kids’ race, a sled pull and prizes for best costume of the day, plus live music, food and beverages.

The event is sponsored by Volkswagen and Lineman College of Trenton (gold sponsors), EMS and Electric Motor Sales & Supply (silver sponsors) and Century Insurance (bronze sponsor).

Farm gates open at 7:30 a.m. and registration begins at 8 a.m. The kids’ race starts at 9 a.m., and the first wave of official 5K participants run at 9:30 a.m. The sled pull is at 11 a.m., and entertainment takes the stage at 2 p.m.

Race registration is $65, or $200 for teams of five. First and second place awards will be given in each of these categories. The kids’ race is free to children ages 13 and under, and kids register on race day.

Online registration closes Oct. 26 at 11:59 p.m. To register or for more information, go to moonshinemudrun.com.
