TFO Zombie Walk and Carnival of the Dead 7/12 Sacramento, CA

The Trash Film Orgy, now a Sacramento institution, is right around the corner and looking to kick things off with a bigger celebration than ever before. If you've somehow missed TFO in your time in Sacramento, here's your chance to catch up.
Now in its 14th year, TFO is a six-week midnight movie festival that brings the best exploitation and horror films to the Crest. This year's film lineup includes “Dawn of the Dead,” “Pink Flamingos,” “Cannibal the Musical,” “Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan,” “The Thing” and “Showgirls.” But before the movie screens light up, the wonderfully strange people over at TFO are offering audiences the opportunity to get in the creepy mood on opening night with the Carnival of the Dead, Dead Walk and Dead Party.

At the Carnival of the Dead, TFO is bringing out professional makeup artists, live entertainment (including Tragically White and Zombie Elvis), horror-themed carnival games, face painting, balloon twisting, food trucks, vendors, zombie sports (Bloody Dodgeball!), contests, prizes, and more.

Unlike the movie screenings for TFO, which are all 18+, the Carnival of the Dead is all-ages and family-friendly (if you come from the type of family in which light gore is OK for the kids). After the carnival, take part in the Dead Walk, where citizens dress up as the undead and wander around midtown. At 9 p.m., 10th Street will be closed to traffic for a zombie parade featuring the Undead Marching Band. After the parade, adult zombies can hang at the Crest for the Dead Party, which will feature a special stage performance and a screening of Dawn of the Dead. More information is available here.
