Zombie event has a new lease on life?

FORT MYERS, Fla. - A Fort Myers event that scares up thousands of the walking dead has a new lease on life. Fans of Zombicon were worried financial problems and unpaid bills would end the night of thrills and chills.
But there's a new investor who says this year's newly named Zombifest will be better than ever.
"I've always loved the event, I've been the last few years. It's a cool event, great concept and we want to continue that tradition," said creator of Ink Life Tattoo and Music Festival and Zombifest organizer, Regan St. Peter.
"We're turning Harborside Event Center into a huge 3D haunted house and that's just the entrance to the event, once you get inside there's gonna be vendors from all over the world, there's gonna be huge bands, national headliners," said St. Peter.
The annual zombie gathering, which brought about 30,000 undead to Downtown Ft. Myers in October is typically the highest-grossing night of the year for many area businesses.
"There's still gonna be eating at the restaurants, they're still gonna be drinking in the bars, the only difference is, there's not going to be everyone just wandering around the streets. Everything is gonna be contained and controlled," he said.
"It's a good night for business," said business owner Skip Mufalli, "We'll see a rush on water, soda, and beer."
The organizers of last year's Zombicon still owe the city over $15,000 but that has no effect on the rebranded Zombifest.
"We're not gonna use and county or city funding and that's why it's gonna cost a little something to get in," St. Peter.
$25 to be exact but fans of the festival say it's well worth it to keep the horror alive.
"People spend a lot of money on their costumes, I've never seen anything like it, so I would definitely come back," said Ft. Myers resident, Donna Locke.
The one-day event will be October 21st from 3pm-2am. The Ink Life Tour will continue to help support local charities like Pushing Daisies and the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
