It's official: Zombies always win in the end.
Last month's Zombie Pub Crawl has set a Guinness World Record for Largest Gathering of Zombies, with 8,027 costumed as the undead on hand for the official count at Midway Stadium in St. Paul. Guinness informed organizers of the achievement via e-mail this week.
Founded in 2005, the annual event has grown into a massive, dual-city zombie invasion, while inspiring similar gatherings around the country. The New Jersey Zombie Walk previously held the Guinness record with 4,093 zombies counted last year. Local organizers said they actually beat that number in 2011 at St. Paul's Mears Park, but didn't have the proper evidence to suit the Guinness officials.
More than 30,000 people participated in this year's local Zombie Pub Crawl on Oct. 13, which included several stages of live music on the West Bank in Minneapolis and a zombie carnival at Midway Stadium.
