Fans of Telltale Games’ 2012 game of the year candidate (and oft winner),The Walking Dead, may not have to wait all that long to get their hands on the upcoming season two of the episodic point-and-click zombie thriller.
It all started during an interview with Telltale CEO Dan Connors after the game was given the BAFTA Game Award for best story. Connors was quoted saying that they were aiming for fall of next year as a release date for season two. Not all that strange considering how long it takes to make games—even of the episodic downloadable variety—but late 2014 is still a painfully long wait for anxious fans.
Fortunately that was a bit of a whoopsie, and the company is aiming for a lot sooner than that.
Here’s their response:
“The current estimated release window for Season Two of The Walking Dead is for fall of ‘this’ year (2013), and not ‘next’ year (2014) as has been reported after a recent interview. We apologize for any confusion and thank you and all of our fans for your continued excitement for Telltale’s series.”
Game Informer reached out to Telltale about the fall 2014 window, and they responded that they’re actually aiming for fall of 2013, not ’14.
If all goes well, that means we could see new Walking Dead episodes in a bit over a half a year from now. Not bad, Nicholas. Not bad at all.
Oh, and let us not forget that there will very likely be some playable content between now and then to hold us over, which is always helpful and greatly appreciated.
